Welded wire mesh, or welded wire fabric, or "weldmesh" is an electric fusion welded prefabricated joined grid consisting of a series of parallel longitudinal wires with accurate spacing welded to cross wires at the required spacing.
Machines are utilized to produce the mesh with precise dimensional control, leading to significant savings in time, labor, and monetary resources.
The welded wire mesh is a metal wire screen constructed from low carbon steel wire or stainless steel wire, offered in various sizes and shapes. In pallet racking, wire mesh decking serves as a safety device on beam levels above pedestrian and forklift traffic, preventing pallets from falling through beams if misplaced. The load capacity of wire mesh decking typically ranges from 1,500 lb to 3,000 lb, determined by the manufacturer, with calculations accounting for some permanent deformation. Factors affecting maximum load include the shape and number of bars, their thickness, span, and gauge.
Pallet loads must be supported by both the front and back beams. When a pallet's depth is less than the rack's, the load may be partly or entirely held by the decking, which should be avoided as wire mesh decking isn't typically designed for sustained pallet load support. It is recommended to place pallets such that they sit on both beams simultaneously with a 2" to 4" overhang at both ends. For instance, a 48" deep rack should use pallets measuring 52" to 56" deep.

If used for permanent storage, it is the owner's responsibility to ensure sufficient capacity of the decking for stored items.
