This guide provides comprehensive instructions on how to connect SMS modem pools to Ozeki 10 SMS Gateway. Setting up a modem pool is typically straightforward. In your system, each modem in the pool will function as an independent modem. Here, we will detail the configuration process for an 8-port GSM modem pool, with similar steps applicable to larger pools, such as those with 16, 32, 64, or 128 ports. Modem pools are ideal if you need to manage numerous phone numbers. To acquire these numbers, SIM cards must be purchased for each modem slot. These SIM cards will have their own mobile phone numbers assigned, which can be utilized in SMS routing within the Ozeki 10 SMS gateway.

This video tutorial demonstrates how to set up an 8-port GSM modem pool using USB with Ozeki SMS Gateway. You'll find all the necessary components for connectivity in this video. For the setup, you'll need a SIM card, an antenna, an 8-port GSM modem pool, a power cable, and a USB cable. Start by inserting the SIM card into one of the modem pool slots, connect the antenna, plug the modem pool into a socket with the power cable, and power it on. Finally, connect the modem pool to your computer via the USB cable. If everything is properly connected, a blue light should blink on the modem pool.

The following information covers setting up GSM modem pools with Ozeki 10 SMS Gateway. These devices facilitate sending SMS via SIM cards. However, for an alternative, you might consider setting up Android phones using the Ozeki Android Client, which can connect to the Ozeki SMS gateway over a network (e.g., Office Wi-Fi). Using four dual SIM Android devices can provide the same 8 phone numbers as an 8-port modem pool.
We recommend the Android SMS gateway option because Android phones support messaging over 3G, 4G, and 5G networks, whereas modem pools only work on 2G. The 4G and 5G networks are significantly faster for SMS messaging. Additionally, 2G networks are being phased out in many countries as frequency bands are reallocated for 4G and 5G services.
