So I go to Auto-zone the next day and get the replacement china part, $31, the Toyota part is almost $200, its on top of the engine and a easy install, 4 bolts and the hydrolic line, bolt the new part in and bleed it, it seems to be working, but once running wont go in gear and creeps as you try, seems the throw is not far enough to work the clutch? After removal and inspection of both units, I find the china part has a different cylinder configuration that centers the puck farther down the hole, to make up for this the Chinese made the push rod longer, but not long enough, So I put a steel tire valve stem cap on both ends of the rod and installed it and BOOM, the clutch works and it will go into gear, but that temp fix will break, so I cut a Corvair push rod in 1/2 as the diameter is the same and the round end was the same, but quickly found out the interior of the push rod was bigger than the ends, wont work, so today I got some round bar stock and made another push rod, the bottom one is stock Toyota, the center one is the Chinese replacement, the top one I made and that is the one that works, the notch in them is for the rubber boot, but it works fine without the notch, So now after 2 days working in 115 degree heat, my clutch works again, all they had to do was copy the Toyota part exactly, but nope! They fixed it so it would not work! PS, I have had problems with china made Corvair parts as well.

So as most of you know our ranch has been threatened by the lake fire, this fire will not go away, so in the middle of all this the clutch slave cylinder decided to go out on my RAV 4. As I left the dirt road from the ranch and hit the asphalt to get supplies suddenly the clutch would not work and the Car was stuck in 4th gear, I quickly found out this thing will absolutely not shift without the clutch, so I decided to risk it and drive the 35 miles from the ranch to my house in town, if I stopped I would never get going again, luckily there are only turns on the back road home, so I did the road race style 4th gear turn to keep my momentum up, I made it, once in the driveway I shut the engine off and quickly found the trans would go into all gears, GOOD! Upon inspection I found the original clutch slave cylinder was worn out, I replaced the master cylinder 2 years ago, this RAV has 197,000 on the stock clutch components.
