Why do we need to recycling PVC pipes?
In the production of daily PVC pipes, it is difficult to occur due to unstable machine and equipment or human factors. Due to the difficulty of degradation of the PVC pipe, the landing material is directly discarded and the environmental pollution is directly discarded. At present, most manufacturers will not recycle the landing material. Even if some enterprises do recycle and use it use. However, the particle size of the particles after the landing material is crushed, and the use uniformly when using it will have a certain impact on the quality of the product. And during the crushing collection of PVC pipes, if there is no dust collection device, there will be more small dust grains in the atmosphere. It is not easy to sink into the air, causing some pollution in the air, and affecting peoples health. Therefore, how to make the landing materials in PVC pipes more effectively crushed and recovered in grades, and the maximum dust collection, improve the quality of landing materials, and reduce environmental pollution is a problem that needs to be solved in the industry.
How to recycling PVC pipe?
PVC is short for polyvinyl chloride and it is one of the most widely used polymers in the world. PVC pipes are common PVC products in the plastic industry. But how to dispose of used PVC pipes? Recycling, incineration and burial methods are three main solutions. Also, PVC pipe recycling is very common for the PVC industry to reuse the used PVC pipes. Because the thermoplastic PVC pipe can simply be reground, pulverized and returned to the extrusion process to make new pipe. That means used PVC can become new source material through a mechanical recycling process that grinds plastic into a powder base for new products. The whole mechanical recycling process contains many size reduction machines like PVC pipe shredders. PVC pipe recycling can help to enhance resource efficiency, save raw materials and reduce emissions and landfill.
PVC pipe recycling process:
PVC pipe recycling process is mainly divided into two categories: for the case of high production demand, a shredder is used to crush the PVC pipe into fragments, and then the uniform PVC particles are obtained after grinding, screening and grading; if the PVC pipe is dirty, the dirt is removed by washing first, and then crushing, drying, granulation and screening and grading processes are carried out to obtain clean PVC particles in the end. Both processes include key aspects such as collection and sorting, subsequent processing, screening and grading, and storage and transportation to ensure the quality and reuse value of the recycled materials.

First, the waste plastic PVC pipe fittings will be recycled, and then processed through a series of processing technology; second, processed into pipes through extrusion molding, so as to achieve the recovery and recycling of waste PVC plastic, which has a very important value for the protection of the environment.
After recovery, waste PVC pipes need to go through pre-sorting, crushing, wind selection, cleaning, two-step flotation separation, drying, granulation and other processes, followed by batching, kneading and extrusion molding.
(1) Pre-sorting: The plastic that is not PVC is selected, and some impurities are also sorted out in this process. After pre-sorting, the PVC is basically sorted out, but due to its composition, many impurities are mixed in the next process.
(2) Crushing: Shear type of plastic crusher is chosen for crushing, which can achieve full crushing through the impeller collision in the crusher. After that, it is further crushed by cone ball mill to make the particles finer.
(3) Sorting: The wind screening device is selected for airflow sorting. After crushing, the wind screening device for screening, the waste PVC plastic products will be crushed, and then the crushed plastic into the hopper of the sorting device, open the fan, the wind direction has a horizontal or vertical, so that the plastic fragments use the relative density difference and the different resistance to air, spraying out, falling to different distances and their own separation.
(4) Washing: After sorting that is the purification stage, that is, the washing of waste PVC plastic. Scrap PVC first needs to be pre-washed, also known as rough washing, in order to remove contaminants such as sand, stones and other debris to avoid damage to cutting knife blades or mechanical equipment in subsequent processing such as granulation. The washing is done with a washing solution with a concentration of 1% at 80°C in order to remove impurities such as paper, PP, PE, PS, etc. contained in the used PVC pipes. In order to avoid the influence of such substances on the quality of recycled pipes. Rough washing followed by fine washing, two washing makes the purity of plastic particles greatly improved, which is beneficial for later molding and processing of products.
(5) Flotation: flotation is carried out twice after drying. The principle of flotation is based on the selective fixation of the particles to be separated on the basis of bubbles, and in the natural state, most plastics are hydrophobic, i.e. floatable.
(6) Drying in the secondary drying is used in the hopper-type hot air plastic dryer.

(7) Granulation After the previous process granulation is carried out so that the plastic becomes tiny particles that meet the specifications to be processed, and finally the formed granules are stored in the granule box for backup.
(8) Kneading After drying, some additives need to be added to the raw materials, and the raw materials need to be mixed evenly before extrusion to ensure that the properties of the extruded products meet the requirements. In this design, a high-speed kneader is used.
(9) Extrusion molding The above process is the preparation work of extrusion molding. The extrusion method was chosen for processing plastic hard pipes. The extrusion molding process mainly uses a twin-screw extruder, shaping device, spray water tank, roller tractor and cutting machine. Extrusion molding is the best method for manufacturing pipes and the process is simple. Therefore, the extrusion molding process was chosen.
(10) According to the process flow of the pipe, a suitable production plant was arranged.

PET is one of the most popular and used plastic packaging materials in the world. It is also one of the most dominant waste types in the ocean. However, used PET bottles should not be seen as waste, as they are 100% recyclable. The PET can be heated and molded into numerous shapes. It is a clean, safe, and convenient packaging method. Unlike glass and aluminum alternatives, PET has a low melting temperature. This makes it easy and sustainable to turn PET packaging into a circular economy, also called a closed loop.
The circular economy is the idea to make products last as long and maintain high value so that they can stay in the economic loop for a long time.
The circular economy has a lot of benefits. By recycling PET bottles, we reduce the amount of waste in landfills, we save on the use of non-renewable resources, less water is used in the recycling process than in the production of virgin pellets, and fewer chemicals are needed to improve the properties of recycled plastic products.
When the plastic is no longer recyclable, it will still hold the same calorific value as it did as a virgin material and can then be used as fuel.
More and more consumers identify as environmentally aware, increasing the demand for recycled products. At the same time, the global population is growing, consequently leading to a greater demand for resources. By reusing the resources already extracted, we are less dependent on Earth's limited raw materials.
PET bottles can be discarded alongside other waste after use. However, that is not a sustainable solution. Most countries have a recycling plan to ensure that recyclable products, such as PET bottles, are not in the waste bin. Instead of throwing the PET bottles away, consumers are urged to put them in the recycling bin. From there, the recyclable products will be collected and transported to a sorting center.
Also, companies that produce PET waste should make sure they collect the waste and ensure its recycling.
PET bottles get sorted roughly at sorting centers. Both the full and empty PET bottles need to be dewatered and compacted. This would be the perfect place for a RUNI Screw Compactor to separate the dry packaging material from the liquid.
For companies with a certain amount of waste from faulty batches in the production process, it is possible to make the recycling process much easier by dewatering and compacting the bottles. The transportation of PET to further recycling will also be much cheaper and more sustainable if the bottles are already dewatered and compacted. This is possible with a RUNI screw compactor. Either the SK240 or the SK370.
In a continuous process, the RUNI screw compactor both drains and compacts the PET bottles. The process is straightforward. The operator feeds the machine, either manually, via a conveyor, or with a forklift. The material then falls into the screw, which compacts the PET while squeezing out the liquid. Usually, the drained and compacted PET bottles fall into a container.
Drained and compacted PET bottles are more accessible and more sustainable to transport to a recycling plant.
PET bottles can be recycled in 2 different ways: Via chemical and mechanical recycling. Mechanical recycling is the most widely used, as this does not pose a risk of releasing toxic substances from chemical agents that can potentially harm the environment.
When recycling PET mechanically, the goal is to obtain clean PET flakes that can be used directly or mixed with virgin polymer to produce new products.
When the compacted PET bottles arrive at a recycling plant, they are sorted and washed to remove any metals, residues, labels, and glue. Afterward, they will be sent to grinding.
After washing, the PET bottles go into a grinder. The grinder makes the bottles into small PET flakes to make them fit for recycling. When the PET bottles have been ground into flakes, they are transported into a machine that sorts the flakes by material and color. This ensures that no non-PET materials go further in the recycling system.
After washing and grinding, the PET-flakes will be dried and melted into long lines of PET plastic and then cut into small pellets. The pellets undergo decontamination by using nitrogen to make it food approved. Because of the decontamination step, it is possible to use PET for packaging for food and beverages once again. It could also be used for other types of bottle packaging, like cleaning supplies. This process is critical because it makes it safe to use the PET in the bottle-to-bottle loop. This needs to run very efficiently to make sure it is safe for food and beverages again.
The recycled PET pellets are then transported to manufacturers for use in the packaging industry. It is now ready to be made into new bottles. The pellets are now heated and formed into the desired size and shape. They are now ready to be reused. This is the end of the bottle-to-bottle loop.
The bottle-to-bottle loop is the ideal way of recycling PET bottles, but it is not always achievable. Sometimes, the plastic collected for recycling is not of high enough quality to be used this way again. In these instances, the recycled PET is ground into flakes and washed before undergoing heat. When heated, it is stretched into fiber used in recycled polyester. This can be used for seat belts, bags, carpets, shoes, clothing, etc.
How do you get started with the PET bottle recycling process? To make it easy, environmentally safe, and financially sustainable, your company must be able to dewater and compact PET bottles. The RUNI Screw Compactor can do this. When the PET bottles go through the screw compactor, the volume reduces by a ratio of 8:1. This makes it easier and cheaper to transport, as you will need fewer trucks to transport the compacted PET bottles. When the bottles are compacted, it is also possible to sell them for recycling.
