Why is PVC Pipe Recycling Essential?
The manufacturing of common PVC pipes frequently encounters challenges due to inconsistent machinery or human errors. As PVC pipes are difficult to degrade, excess materials are often discarded, leading to environmental issues. Currently, most manufacturers neglect to recycle this waste; even when some do, the crushed materials can adversely affect product quality due to inconsistent particle sizes. Additionally, the crushing of PVC pipes can release dust particles into the atmosphere if effective dust collection systems are not in place, causing air pollution and potential health risks. Therefore, the industry must find ways to efficiently crush and recover these materials while minimizing dust release to enhance quality and reduce environmental impact.
Methods for Recycling PVC Pipes
PVC, short for polyvinyl chloride, stands as one of the most prevalent polymers globally. PVC pipes represent a significant product within the plastic industry, leading to the question of how to manage used pipes effectively. The three main disposal methods are recycling, incineration, and landfill. Among these, PVC pipe recycling holds great importance within the PVC sector, as thermoplastic PVC pipes can be easily ground and processed back into the extrusion cycle for the creation of new pipes. This means that recycled PVC can serve as a fresh raw material through mechanical recycling processes which effectively transforms plastic into powder suitable for new product production. The thorough mechanical recycling involves numerous size reduction machines like PVC pipe shredders. Recycling PVC pipes facilitates resource efficiency, conserves raw materials, and decreases both emissions and landfill use.
The PVC Pipe Recycling Process:
Recycling PVC pipes typically falls into two main categories; for high-volume production, shredders are employed to break down PVC pipes into small fragments, followed by grinding, screening, and grading to yield uniform PVC particles. In cases where the pipes are contaminated, an initial washing step is implemented, followed by crushing, drying, granulating, and further screening and grading processes to produce clean PVC particles. Both procedures prioritize critical elements such as collection, sorting, processing, screening, grading, and storage to enhance the quality and reuse potential of the recycled materials.

Option 2: Recycling PVC Pipe Washing and Pelletizing Machinery
Initially, waste PVC pipe fittings will undergo recycling, followed by a sequence of processing technologies; subsequently, the material is extruded into new pipes, thus achieving effective recovery and recycling of waste PVC plastic, significantly contributing to environmental protection.
Following recovery, waste PVC pipes must undergo several stages including pre-sorting, crushing, wind separation, cleaning, flotation separation, drying, and granulation before final batching, kneading, and molding.
(1) Pre-sorting: Non-PVC plastics and impurities are removed in this initial phase. Though most PVC materials are sorted out, some impurities can remain, affecting later processes.
(2) Crushing: A shear-type plastic crusher is deployed to achieve comprehensive crushing through impeller impact. Subsequent fine crushing is achieved via cone ball mill to produce smaller particles.
(3) Sorting: Airflow separation is achieved through a wind screening device. After crushing, the shredded PVC plastic material is funneled into the sorting apparatus, utilizing varying air densities to separate material based on their respective distances.
(4) Washing: The purification phase follows sorting, where contaminants are removed through pre-washing (rough washing) to eliminate sand and debris that could damage future processing equipment. It involves a washing solution at a concentration of 1% at 80°C, effectively removing impurities such as paper and other plastics.
(5) Flotation: The flotation process utilizes bubbles to selectively separate particles, as most plastics are hydrophobic and naturally buoyant.
(6) Drying: Secondary drying utilizes a hopper-type hot air plastic dryer.

(7) Granulation: Granulation occurs post-drying, transforming the plastic into small particles that meet specifications for storage in granule boxes.
(8) Kneading: Additives are mixed with raw materials in a high-speed kneader prior to extrusion, ensuring uniform properties for the final extruded products.
(9) Extrusion Molding: This process prepares the material for processing through a twin-screw extruder, which simplifies the manufacturing of hard pipes.
(10) A production facility is structured in accordance with the recycling process flow.
